Tomorrow, October 1st, kicks off Domestic Violence Awareness month! The RESPECT! Campaign believes that together we will build a new kind of society - one that encourages decency and respect. For inspiration throughout this month, we want to know who YOU respect, why, and how you show them! Please share with us!

I respect my grandparents, Nancy and Drummond Slover for living by example and teaching me through their actions what it means to have a strong, loving marriage. Although they are no longer with us, I often think about how much they loved each other and most of all -- respected -- each other for their values and even differences until their last days. This is a gift that I hope to pass on to our children some day. Many thanks to the RESPECT! Campaign for encouraging such an important, positive action we can all take part in together to end violence.
1I respect all, who respect themselves, because ONLY then you can respect others. Respect for life is most important. We also should respect all forms of life and think well how to take care of nature around us. I learnt that fm my parents. They have been married for almost 46 years. They still respect each other... It starts with us and spreads, we are key to our lives, so in order to be a good example, we have to set it ourselves...
2I am fortunate to have friends, certain family members and my bf. I respect them for their honesty, caring, reassurance, humor, support, their love and the way they treat others. They have taught me so much. I show them I respect them in the same ways and more.
National Domestic Violence Day is a good thing. Some people are still in denial, including the abused.
3My older sister. She has been through hell and back. She is my hero.
4I respect my parents. They have been through just about everything a marriage can go through and they are still together, completely in love, happy, and want nothing more than to spend every day together.
I respect my siblings. They are my inspirations. They each have different qualities, different aspirations, different abilities, yet each one of them has made something out of themselves.
I respect my boyfriend. He is my best friend. He is my rock. He is going to school, working, doing research in his field, and still makes me his #1 priority.
This may be egotistical, but I also respect myself. I am an important, loving, thoughtful, smart person. I give my all in my relationships, in school, in life. I will never let anyone degrade me, hurt me, or bring me down. I am worth enough to never be put through that. I respect myself.
